Artist Statement
Existing as an artist, I am always seeking to restore my childlike perception: a more innocent state of wonder and appreciation not bound to functionality or necessity. My approach to the use of materials, process and form is experimented in a variety of mediums including but not limited to photography, painting and mixed media. The works I create uncover the beauty in the aged, the calm within chaos and the fantasy that lives in realism.
Jase Michael (b. 1976, Englewood, NJ) is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist. His practice extends beyond painting to include photography, graphic design, erotica and interior design. Jase began his career as a music photographer on NYC’s Lower East Side. He has photographed musicians ranging from City of the Sun through Matisyahu all the way to Jazz Artist Brian Newman. Throughout his practice, Jase has sustained his use of chance-based processes in each of his pieces.
Jase lives just outside of NYC in the Hudson Valley of NY with his wife and 3 children.
